Tobougg Adds UK Black-Type

Thursday, 7th April 2011

In the UK overnight, undefeated champion juvenile & dual Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Tobougg (Barathea-Lacovia, by Majestic Light) added a black-type success (& 14th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when 6YO gelding The Betchworth Kid (Tobougg-Runelia, by Runnett) motored home from last-in-running to snatch victory by a short-head in the £30,000 (A$47,000) Listed Further Flight Stakes (14 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Nottingham, to better his runner-up in the same race in 2009. The Betchworth Kid (ridden by Hayley Turner for trainer Alan King) defeated The Queen's favoured 5YO entire Free Agent (Dr Fong-Film Script, by Unfuwain) & French-bred fellow 6YO gelding Askar Tau (Montjeu-Autriche, by Acatenango). The Betchworth Kid took his record to 6 wins & 16 placings (including 2009's UK Gr2 Goodwood Cup over 16 furlongs, UK Listed Aston Park Stakes over 13.5 furlongs at Newbury, UK Listed Further Flight Stakes over 14 furlongs at Nottingham & Irish Listed Vintage Crop Stakes over 13 furlongs at Navan, plus 2008's UK Listed Noel Murless Stakes over 14 furlongs at Newmarket) from 41 starts.
