US Champ 1st-Season Sire Congrats Shuttle To Vinery

Friday, 8th April 2011

Reigning US Champion 1st-Season sire Congrats (A.P.Indy-Praise, by Mr Prospector) will shuttle to Vinery in the NSW Hunter Vallety from 2011. Gr2-winning & dual Gr1-placed 11-year-old Congrats becomes only the 2nd ever stakes-winner by 2-time Champion US Sire A.P.Indy to be imported to Australia (after Darley's Bernardini, who finished 4th on the 2010 US 1st-Season Sires table behind Congrats). In winning the 2010 US 1st-Season Sire title, Congrats: produced Gr1-winners Turbulent Descent & Wickedly Perfect; sired 15 individual stakes-horses; & sired 22 individual 2YO winners. Vinery Stud general manager Peter Orton noted: "Congrats was a Gr2-winner who started his stud career off in Florida, so on a comparative basis he wasn't serving a particularly high standard of mares. Yet the quality & class that he put into his stock has obviously come through & now he is getting phenomenal results." On the track, Congrats recorded 7 wins (including the Gr2 San Pasqual Handicap & Listed Alysheba Stakes) & 8 placings (including the Gr1 Santa Anita Handicap, Gr1 Hollywood Gold Cup Handicap, Gr2 Jim Dandy Stakes, Gr2 Washington Park Handicap, Gr2 San Antonia Handicap, Gr3 Memorial Day Handicap & Listed Ack Ack Handicap) from 26 starts for US$998,960 earnings.
