Black Caviar Wins Gr1 T.J.Smith Stakes

On the Australian track, Eliza Park Stud's multiple Gr1-winning sire Bel Esprit (Royal Academy-Bespoken, by Vain) added a Gr1 triumph when unbeaten 4YO mare & the world's highest-rated horse Black Caviar (Bel Esprit-Helsinge, by Desert Sun) notched her 5th successive Gr1 victory with a 2.75-lengths margin in the $1 million weight-for-age Gr1 Darley T.J.Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Hot favourite Black Caviar (ridden by Luke Nolen for trainer Peter Moody) clocked a race record 1min 8.71sec in defeating front-running 5YO gelding Hay List (Statue Of Liberty-Sing Hallelujah, by Is It True) with a further 5-lengths back to 6YO gelding Triple Honour (Honours List-Myrrh, by Nassipour). Overall Black Caviar (a $210,000 yearling consigned by Swettenham Stud at the 2008 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne) now has 12 wins (also including last start's Gr1 William Reid Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley on March 26, the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap over 1200m at Flemington on March 12 & February's Gr1 Lightning Stakes over 1000m at Flemington, plus 2010's Gr1 Patinack Farm Classic over 1200m at Flemington, Gr2 Schweppes Stakes over 1200m at Mooney Valley, Gr2 Schillaci Stakes over 1000m at Caulfield & Gr2 Australia Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley, as well as 2009's Gr2 Danehill Stakes over 1200m at Flemington, Listed Arrow Training Services Plate over 1200m at Moonee Valley & Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) from 12 starts for $3,212,550 earnings.
