Dual US Champion Sire A.P.Indy Pensioned

Dual leading North American sire A.P.Indy (Seattle Slew-Weekend Surprise, by Secretariat) has been pensioned aged 22 at William Farish's Lane's End Farm in Kentucky "after none of the more than 25 mares bred to him this year have been pronounced in-foal" reported bloodhorse.com. Bred in Kentucky by Farish & W.S.Kilroy, A.P.Indy was foaled at Lane's End & sold for US$2.9 million (highest priced yearling of 1990) on the track he was voted US Horse-Of-The-Year & Champion 3YO after winning the 1992 Gr1 Belmont Stakes, Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic & Gr1 Santa Anita Derby. As a stallion:

  • He has sired more than 135 stakes-winners, including: US champions Mineshaft, Bernardini, Rags To Riches & Tempera; Canadian Champions Marchfield, Serenading, Acatchg The Thrill & Eye Of The Leopard; & UAE Champion Festival Of Light.
  • His other Gr1-winners include: A P Valentine, A. P. Adventure, Aptitude, Flashing, Friends Lake, Girolamo, Golden Missile, Indy Five Hundred, Jilbab, Little Belle, Majestic Warrior, Music Note, Passing Shot, Royal Indy, Runup The Colors, Secret Status, Stephen Got Even, Sweet Symphony, Telling & Tomisue's Delight.
