Hines Says Small Vic 2YO Fields "A Dilemma"

Tuesday, 12th April 2011

Chief executive Rob Hines confirmed Racing Victoria "is conducting another review of its 2YO calendar in the wake of small fields plaguing juvenile racing prior to Christmas". Hines said the state's trainers have requested RV "consider starting 2YO racing later in the year" but noted: "I think it is a dilemma because there are so many different views. The trainers have stopped preparing them (horses). We would program the races, but we honestly don't get the field sizes. It is all very well for them to complain that they don't prepare them because the races aren't there, but they don't prepare the horses. That is the problem."
