Hussonet Moves From Arrowfield To Lindsay Park

Tuesday, 12th April 2011

Arrowfield Stud announced 6-time Chilean Champion Sire Hussonet (Mr Prospector-Sacahuista, by Raja Baba) will be relocated to Lindsay Park Stud in South Australia "in a deal that will see the record-breaking sire spend the remainder of his career at the famous Barossa Valley stud". Lindsay Park managing director Sam Hayes declared: "Standing a Champion stallion is a privilege that we will not take for granted & I am confident breeders will not take it for granted either. This is a real coup." Hussonet is the sire of more Gr1-winners (28) than any other active stallion in Australia today (including 2007-08 Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Weekend Hussler & Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reaan) & has produced 75 individual stakes-winners with progeny earnings over $37 million world-wide. In addition, this season's yearlings & foals include offspring from star racemares Miss Finland, Alinghi, Tycoon Lil & Lotteria, plus the dams of Redoute's Choice, Not A Single Doubt & Reaan, leading Hayes to note: "Given the books of mares he has covered in recent seasons, there is substantial upside for breeders going to him in 2011 & beyond." Last season Hussonet produced 102 winners (1 of only 10 stallions to break the 100-winner mark) including 7 stakes-winners & 7 2YO-winners of over $4.4 million prize-money. This season's stars include Gr1 Oakleigh Plate winner Eagle Falls, plus Gr1 Caulfield Guineas runner-up Run For Levi & Gr1 Thousand Guineas runner-up Heartsareforlove. Hussonet is the world's leading active son of Mr Prospector at stud & will stand at Lindsay Park for $27,500. Arrowfield chairman John Messara commented: "Hussonet has been a great success story for us & we are delighted to place him in young, enthusiastic hands for the next phase of his career."
