In South Africa, 4YO mare Dancewiththedevil (Modus Vivendi-Emperor's Dance, by Caesour) notched her 2nd successive Gr1 triumph with a 4-lengths victory in the R1 million (A$145,000) Gr1 Empress Club Stakes (1600m) for fillies & mares at Turffontein. Dancewiththedevil (ridden by S'Manga Khumalo for owner-breeder-trainer St John Gray) defeated UK-bred 3YO filly Welwitschia (Oasis Dream-Maid For Romance, by Pursuit Of Love) & fellow 4YO mare Flirtation (Silvano-French Treasure, by Mullineaux). Dancewiththedevil took her record to 6 wins (also including March's Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes over 1600m at Turffontein & February's Gr3 Acacia Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein) & 3 runners-up from 10 starts.
