On the UK track overnight, deceased former Vinery Stud shuttler & in recent years permanently Australian-based stallion Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a group success when front-running 4YO entire Ransom Note (Red Ransom-Zacheta, by Polish Precedent) returned from a 6-months spell to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the £50,000 (A$78,000) Gr3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes (9 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Newmarket. Ransom Note (ridden by Michael Hills for trainer Barry Hills) defeated US-bred 5YO entire Polytechnicien (Royal Academy-Golden Party, by Seeking The Gold) & favoured US-bred 4YO entire Elusive Pimpernel (Elusive Quality-Cara Fantasy, by Sadler's Wells). Ransom Note took his record to 6 wins & a runner-up from 12 starts.
