Havre De Grace Wins US Gr1 Apple Blossom Handicap

The sole crop sired by deceased US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Saint Liam logged its 1st Gr1-winner when consistent 4YO daughter Havre De Grace (Saint Liam-Easter Bunnette, by Carson City) scored a 0.75-length victory in the US$500,000 Gr1 Apple Blossom Handicap (8.5 furlongs) for mares 4YO & up at Oaklawn Park. Havre De Grace (ridden by Ramon Dominguez for trainer Larry Jones) defeated felow 4YO mares Switch (Quiet American-Antoniette, by Nicholas) & Absinte Minded (Quiet American-Rockford Peach, by Great Above). Havre De Grace (a US$380,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 5 wins (also including March's Gr3 Azeri Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Oaklawn Park, plus 2010's Gr2 Cotillion Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Philadelphia Park) & 5 placings (including 2010's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic over 9 furlongs at Churchill Downs, Gr1 Alabama Stakes over 10 furlongs at Saratoga, Gr2 Delaware Oaks over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park & Listed Go For Wand Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park) from 10 starts for US$1,263,175 earnings.
