Monday, 18th April 2011

Deceased White Robe Lodge stallion Yamanin Vital (Sir Tristram-She Might Hula, by Caucasus) added a NZ group success when 5YO mare Inferno (Yamanin Vital-Emerald Fire, by Honor Grades) scored a 3.5-lengths victory in the NZ$100,000 weight-for-age Gr3 Canterbury Gold Cup (2000m) at Riccarton Park in Christchurch. Inferno (ridden by Shankar Muniandy for trainers Brain & Shane Anderton) defeated Australian-bred 7YO gelding Don't Say Clang (Clang-Caramel Twist, by Mr Jazz) & fellow 5YO mare Royal Era (Zabeel-Tudor Era, by Nassipour). Inferno (passed-in for NZ$24,000 as a yearling at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock South Island Sale) took her record to 8 wins & 7 placings (including March's Listed Valachi Downs South Island Breeders Stakes over 1600m at Riccarton Park & February's Gr3 White Robe Lodge Stakes over 1600m at Wingatui, plus 2009's Listed Dunedin Guineas over 1400m at Wingatui & 2008's Listed Royal Gem @ Stoney Bridge Canterbury Stakes over 1600m at Riccarton Park) from 27 starts for NZ$151,113 earnings.
