UK Newspaper Says 5 Jockeys In "Race Fixing Probe"

Monday, 18th April 2011

In the UK, the British Horseracing Authority announced it would be "inappropriate" to respond to newspaper claims that "racing's regulator is investigating 5 jockeys amid allegations of race fixing" reported racingpost.com. The newspaper report "didn't name any of the 5 jockeys it believes are involved in the BHA investigation, rumours of which have been rife within the racing community for several days". BHA head of communications Paul Struthers noted: "We have a team of investigators who each have a number of on-going investigations into a variety of matters at any one time. It would be inappropriate to comment on individual investigations, except those that are already in the public domain or until such time as an investigation has been concluded & charges issued."
