Beneteau Retired To Stand At Arrowfield For $11k
Gr3-winning & Gr1-placed 3YO colt Beneteau (Redoute's Choice-Slice Of Paradise, by Encosta de Lago) who suffered a back injury while in the spelling paddock last year has been retired from racing & will stand at Arrowfield Stud in the upcoming breeding season for $11,000. Beneteau (a $1 million yearling at the 2009 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) recorded 2 wins (including the Gr3 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m at Caulfield) & 1 placing (in the Gr1 Arrowfield Stud Blue Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield) from 6 starts for $336,550 earnings. His dam Slice Of Paradise is a full-sister to 2005 Australian champion filly Alinghi (4 Gr1 wins & 4 Gr1 placings for $3.559 million earnings). Arrowfield chairman John Messara commented: "It is always disappointing to retire a colt that has not had the chance to display the full measure of his talent on the racecourse. However, the example of sensational young sire Not A Single Doubt, who retired as a Listed Stakes winner & began his career at a similar fee, gives us great confidence in Beneteau."
