UK Doncaster 2YOs: $217k Hard Spun Colt

Thursday, 21st April 2011

In the UK overnight, John Quinn paid top price of £140,000 (A$217,000) for a colt by Darley shuttler Hard Spun (out of Gone West mare Saudia) at the 1-day Doncaster Bloodstock 2YO Breeze-Up Sale. The colt (consigned by Willie Browne's Mocklershill Stables in Ireland) previously sold for just US$15,000 at last year's US Keeneland September Sale & comes from the immediate family of Gr1-winner Bint Pasha. Quinn commented: "He had everything - the looks, the pedigree & he galloped. He's been bought for Peter Clay who races as Maxilead Ltd. I think he'll be a 6 furlong or 7 furlong type of 2YO."
