1st Winner For US Gr1-Winning Freshman Sire Daaher

Wednesday, 27th April 2011

US Gr1-winning 7YO freshman stallion Daaher (Awesome Again-Irish Cherry, by Irish Open) recorded his 1st winner when front-running 2YO filly Gypsy Robin (Daaher-Feisty Princess, by Indian Charlie) scored by 7.5-lengths on debut over 4.5 furlongs on all-weather at Keeneland for trainer Wesley Ward. Gypsy Robin was a US$27,000 yearling at the 2010 Keeneland September Sale. Daaher (who stands at Shadwell Farm in Kentucky in 2011 for US$7,500) was originally a US$375,000 yearling at the 2005 Keeneland September sale, but underwent surgery on his knee as a juvenile before beginning his career as a 3YO with victory in his 2nd start at Belmont Park in New York; he then ventured to Canada & placed in the classic Prince Of Wales Stakes, before returning to the US & winning 3 consecutive races in late 2007 (a Saratoga allowance by 13.75-lengths, followed by front-running romps in both the Gr2 Jerome Handicap & Gr1 Cigar Mile Handicap).
