Wednesday, 27th April 2011

In Singapore, European champion 4-time Gr1-winning Darley shuttler Shamardal (Giant's Causeway-Helsinki, by Machiavellian) added a group success when his Australian-bred gelded son Gingerbread Man (Shamardal-Quaffle, by Hurricane Sky) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the S$350,000 (A$280,000) Gr2 3YO Classic (1400m) at Kranji. Favourite Gingerbread Man (ridden by Australian jockey Vlad Duric for trainer Bruce Marsh) defeated Australian-bred colt Zac Influence (Rock Of Gibraltar-Kidman, by Quest For Fame) & fellow gelding Nandowra (Savabeel-Fabaz, by O'Reilly). Last season's Singapore Champion 2YO Gingerbread Man (a $30,000 yearling at the 2009 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) now has 7 wins (also including this month's Gr3 3YO Sprint over 1200m & 2010's Magic Millions Juvenile Championship over 1200m) & 2 runners-up from 10 starts for S$606,240 (A$485,000) earnings.
