Florida 2YOs Day-3: US$320k Corinthian Filly

Wednesday, 27th April 2011

In the US auction ring, Canadian-based trainer Mark Casse paid the Day-3 top price of US$320,000 for a filly from the 1st-crop of multiple Gr1-winning Gainesway stallion Corinthian (out of stakes-winning Smoke Glacken mare Glacken's Mark) at the 4-day Ocala Breeders Sales Company's April Spring Sale of 2YOs-In-Training Sale in Florida. The filly (consigned by Niall Brennan Stables as agent) was previously bought-back for just US$47,000 at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She clocked 21.2sec for 2 furlongs during the pre-sale breeze-up session & Brennan commented: "She's done very well. She was a bit raw as a yearling, but developed beautifully as she got fit. She's a tall, elegant filly with great scope to her. She's got a great stride on her, and when you come look at her at the barn, she looks like the kind who's going to get 2-turns."
