Leading US Owner Jess Jackson Dies Aged 81

Leading US winemaker & thoroughbred owner Jess Jackson, whose Stonestreet Stable raced both US 2007-2008 dual Horse-Of-The-Year Curlin & US 2009 Horse-Of-The-Year Rachel Alexandra, died at his home in California after a lengthy battle with cancer aged 81. Stonestreet also raced Gr1-winner Gozzip Girl, Gr2-winners Kensei, Springside, Striking Dancer, Tiz Wonderful, Forest Music & Kantharos, plus Gr3-winners Strike It Rich, Bold Union, El Roblar & Astrology. In the sale ring Stonestreet's broodmare band produced the 2008 Keeneland September Yearling sales topper: a US $3.1-million daughter of A.P. Indy out of Chimichurri (Elusive Quality); & last year Stonestreet led North America in total yearling sales, selling 46 yearlings for over US$7.2 million.
