US Gr1-Winning Freshman Stormello Euthanased Aged 7

In the US, Gr1-winning 7YO freshman stallion Stormello (Stormy Atlantic-Wilshewed, by Carson City) was euthanased "because of complications from colic at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute" in Kentucky, reported bloodhorse.com. Stormello (who was standing at Tom Simon's Vinery near Lexington for US$3,500 this year) is represented by 1 unplaced 2YO starter from his 1st crop; overall he has sired 36 2YOs & 25 yearlings. On the track himself, Stormello notched 3 wins (including the Gr1 Hollywood Futurity & Gr2 Norfolk Breeders' Cup Stakes) & 4 placings (including the Gr2 Del Mar Futurity, Gr2 Best Pal Stakes, Gr2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes & Gr2 Woody Stephens Stakes) from 11 starts for US$700,100 earnings.
