Holy Roman Emperor Adds Irish Black-Type

Monday, 2nd May 2011

In Ireland overnight, dual Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill-L'On Vite, by Secretariat) added a black-type success when 3YO filly Banimpire (Holy Roman Emperor-My Renee, by Kris S) gained the decision against older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the €60,000 (A$83,000) Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes (9.5 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Gowran Park. Banimpire (ridden by Kevin Manning for trainer Jim Bolger) scored by a neck from French-bred fellow 3YO filly Wild Wind (Danehill Dancer-Woman Secret, by Sadler's Wells) with a further short-head to 6YO mare Barring Decree (Dalakhani-Barring Order, by Barathea). Banimpire now has 3 wins (also including April's Gr3 Ballysax Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown) & 2 placings (including March's Gr3 Park Express Stakes over 8 furlongs at The Curragh) from 7 starts.
