Kentucky Derby Winner Super Saver Joins Eliza Park
Eliza Park announced 2010 Gr1 Kentucky Derby-winning 4YO stallion Super Saver (Maria's Mon-Supercharger, by A.P.Indy) will be joining its sire roster this Spring at a $16,500 fee. WinStar Farm home-bred Super Saver (standing for $US20,000 in his initial season at WinStar this year) won last year's Gr1 Kentucky Derby (10 furlongs) at Churchill Downs & 2009's Gr2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (8.5 furlongs) at Churchill Downs, as well as placing in both 2010's Gr1 Arkansas Derby (9 furlongs) at Oaklawn Park & Gr3 Tampa Bay Derby (8.5 furlongs) at Tampa Day Downs. Overall Super Saver won or placed in 6 of 10 starts & earned US$1,889,766. Super Saver has already covered 140 mares at WinStar this year (including 100 stakes horses or producers of stakes horses, with 10 Gr1-winners or dams thereof). Eliza Park chief executive Cameron Croucher enthused: "Eliza Park is delighted to be given the opprtunity to stand such a good looking & talented racehorse as Super Saver. He is represented by a wonderful pedigree: we made a conscious decision to seek an outcross for the coming season & are thrilled to be entrusted with Super Saver on behalf of his owners & the famed Winstar Farm." And WinStar chief executive Elliot Walden added: "We've got every confidence in Super Saver & are very excited about our 1st venture in Australia. He's certainly the right horse!"
