Tuesday, 3rd May 2011

Meanwhile Victoria's Racing Minister Denis Napthine "fears Warrnambool's famous 3-day carnival in May would be doomed without jumps racing" reported The Herald-Sun. Napthine emphasised that "the theatre of jumps racing was the major reason the carnival continued to flourish, despite its detractors". He said without jumps, Warrnambool "would become a Sunday cup meeting" & noted: "It's the biggest carnival we have outside the Spring & brings a lot of dollars & jobs to the district."
