NZB Weanlings Day-2: Average Up 15.1%

Wednesday, 4th May 2011

Overall during the weanling section of the NZ Bloodstock National Sale, 243 lots sold for NZ$3,184,450 (down 16.8% on a significantly smaller catalogue). However the final average of NZ$13,105 was up 15.1%. The final median of NZ$3,800 was down 5% & the clearance rate was 75% (last year 80%). NZB co-managing director Petrea Vela commented: "We were unsure heading into the Sale whether or not it would hold up against last year, so it's been extremely pleasing to see the level of demand for the weanlings. It is very heartening to see that good horses are still commanding good money & in particular the demand from Australia is still strong."
