Budriguez Wins R.A.Lee Stakes

Emirates Park Stud's Gr1-winning stallion Al Maher (Danehill-Show Dancing, by Don't Say Halo) added a group quinella when favoured 4YO gelding Budriguez (Al Maher-Deni, by St Covet) led all-the-way to score a 0.75-length victory in yesterday's $200,000 Gr3 R.A.Lee Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville. Budriguez (ridden by Justin Potter for trainer David Jolly) defeated equal top-weighted 4YO mare Majestic Music (Al Maher-Regal Flute, by Royal Academy) & equal top-weighted fellow 4YO gelding Red Colossus (Testa Rossa-Palace Glow, by Palace Music). Budriguez (a $25,000 yearling consigned by Widden Stud at the 2008 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) now has 8 wins (also including April's Listed City Of Adelaide Handicap over 1400m at Morphetville) & 3 placings (including April's Gr3 Victoria Handicap over 1400m at Caulfield) from 14 starts for $315,750 earnings.
