Monday, 9th May 2011

Vinery Stud's Canadian Gr2-winning stallion Dubleo (Southern Halo-Secret Red, by Secretariat) added a black-type success when favoured 4YO mare Dubleanny (Dubleo-Uncanny Lady, by Canny Lad) snatched a last-stride win in a 3-way photo-finish to yesterday's $100,000 Listed Betfair Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) for fillies & mares at Morphettville. Equal top-weighted Dubleanny (ridden by Craig Newitt for trainer Mick Price) scored by a long-head from equal top-weighted 5YO mare Cornelia Marie (Reset-Edna Valley, by Rubiton) with a further short-halfhead to fellow 4YO mare Cat's Pyjamas (Fusaichi Pegasus-Perfect Halo, by Don't Say Halo). Dubleanny (a $34,000 weanling consigned by Torryburn Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions National Sale & later a $65,000 yearling consigned by Murrulla Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions January Gold Coast Sale) now has 8 wins & 3 runners-up (including 2010's Gr2 Caulfield Sprint over 1100m at Caulfield & Listed Kevin Heffernan Stakes over 1300m at Sandown) from 15 starts for $461,425 earnings.
