Monday, 9th May 2011

In Japan yesterday, last season's Champion 2YO & now 3YO colt Grand Prix Boss (Sakura Bakushin O-Rosy Mist, by Sunday Silence) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the ¥191.76 million (A$2.244m) Gr1 NHK Mile Cup (1600m) for 3YOs at Tokyo. Favourote Grand Prix Boss (ridden by Australian jockey Craig Williams for trainer Yoshito Yahagi) defeated fellow colts Cotillion (Deep Impact-Gemmy Dress, by Tony Bin) & Real Impact (Deep Impact-Tokio Reality, by Meadowlake). Grand Prix Boss now boasts 4 wins (also including both 2010's Gr1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes over 1600m at Nakayama & Gr2 Keio Hai Nisai Stakes over 1400m at Tokyo) & a placing (in April's Gr2 New Zealand Trophy over 1600m at Hanshin) from 7 starts for ¥235.055 million (A$2.75m) earnings.
