Indikator Wins NZ Rotorua Cup

In New Zealand, Grangewilliam Stud stallion Sandtrap (Irish River-Timely Reserve, by Nureyev) added a group success when 7YO gelding Indikator (Sandtrap-Lady Daintree, by Sir Tristram) scored a 4-lengths victory in the NZ$85,000 Gr3 Rotorua Cup (2200m) at Arawa Park to take this race for the 2nd successive year. Indikator (ridden by Reese Jones for trainers Keith & Gavin Opie) defeated favoured 5YO gelding Roi D'Jeu (Montjeu-Balinchy, by Lord Ballina) & 6YO gelding Don Domingo (Don Eduardo-Blue Heaven, by Centaine). Indikator now has 11 wins (also including 2010's Gr3 Rotorua Cup over 2200m at Arawa Park, plus 2009's Listed Kiwifruit Cup over 2170m at Tauranga) & 12 placings (including 2010's Gr3 Tattersall's Cup over 2200m at Eagle Farm, plus 2009's Gr3 Colin Stephen Quality over 2400m at Randwick & Listed Cornwall Handicap over 2200m at Ellerslie, as well as 2008's Listed Kiwifruit Cup over 2170m at Tauranga) from 49 starts for NZ$412,876 earnings.
