Johar Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 9th May 2011

Multiple Gr1-winning former NZ Highview Stud shuttler Johar (Gone West-Windsharp, by Lear Fan) added a UK black-type success when French-bred 5YO gelding Alainmaar (Johar-Lady Elgar, by Sadler's Wells) blitzed his rivals by 6-lengths in the £30,000 (A$47,000) Listed Buckhounds Stakes (12 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Ascot. Alainmaar (ridden by Richard Hills for trainer Roger Varian) defeated 6YO gelding Shamali (Selkirk-Shamaiel, by Lycius) & 4YO entire Verdant (Singspiel-Orford Ness, by Selkirk). Alainmaar was a €240,000 (A$334,000) yearling at France's 2007 Deauville August Sale; he took his overall record to 5 wins & a runner-up from 6 starts for £77,890 (A$121,000) earnings.
