Military Rose Wins Gold Coast Guineas

Monday, 9th May 2011

Deceased dual Gr1-winning former Widden Stud stallion General Nediym (Nediym-Military Belle, by Without Fear) added a group success when daughter Military Rose (General Nediym-Bella Maddelena, by Flying Spur) led all-the-way to score a half-length victory against the males in the $125,000 Gr3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) for 3YOs at the Gold Coast. Military Rose (ridden by Daniel Griffin for trainer Gillian Heinrich) defeated the gelding Celtic Dancer (Choisir-Little Wonder Why, by Kala Dancer) & fellow filly Skating On Ice (Bradbury's Luck-Elite Warrior, by Brave Warrior). Military Rose (a $155,000 yearling consigned by Middlebrook Valley Lodge at the 2009 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) now has 6 wins (also including 2010's Gr2 Reisling Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill & Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200m at the Gold Coast, plus 2009's Listed Calaway Gal Stakes over 1000m at Eagle Farm) & 1 placing (in 2010's Gr3 TBV Champagne Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) from 11 starts for $1,626,900 earnings. Meanwhile Military Rose is due to go under the hammer as a racing & breeding prospect at June's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast.
