Singspiel Adds UK Gr3

Monday, 9th May 2011

Deceased former shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) added a UK group success when Irish-bred colt Dordogne (Singspiel-Riberac, by Efisio) scored a half-length victory in the £60,000 (A$93,000) Gr3 Derby Trial Stakes (11.5 furlongs) for 3YO colts & geldings at Lingfield Park. Dordogne (ridden by Neil Callan for trainer Mark Johnson) defeated fellow Irish-bred colt Hurricane Higgins (Hurricane Run-Mare Aux Fees, by Kenmare) & another colt Measuring Time (Dubai Destination-Inchberry, by Barathea). Dordogne was a 27,000 guineas (A$43,000) yearling at the 2009 UK Tattersalls October Sale; he took his overall record to 3 wins (also including April's Listed Feilden Stakes over 9 furlongs at Newmarket) & a placing from 5 starts for £56,932 (A$88,000) earnings.
