Minister Urges "Consultation" On Vic Wagering Tax
Victorian Racing Minister Denis Napthine yesterday "urged the Racing Victoria board to consult with industry shareholders before voting today on a recommendation on the future tax regime for racing's wagering operators" reported The Age in Melbourne. The RV board "is due to meet today, where the wagering review report compiled by independent consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers & chaired by Peter Yates, will be considered". Napthine said he hoped no action would be taken "without proper consultation with the industry", noting: "When you have a council of many, you are likely to get the best result."
