Friday, 13th May 2011

In the UK overnight, Gr1 Dubai World Cup-winning shuttler Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a group success (& 47th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when Queen Elizabeth's US-bred colt Carlton House (Street Cry-Talented, by Bustino) returned from a 7-months spell to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the £150,000 (A$233,000) Gr2 Dante Stakes (10.5 furlongs) for 3YOs at York & jump to favouritism for next month's Gr1 Epsom Derby. Carlton House (ridden by Ryan Moore for Sir Michael Stoute) defeated favoured fellow colt Seville (Galileo-Silverskaya, by Silver Hawk) & front-running US-bred colt Pisco Sour (Lemon Drop Kid-Lynnwood Chase, by Horse Chestnut). Carlton House (a gift from Sheikh Mohammed to the Queen) now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 3 starts for £90,713 (A$141,000) earnings.
