Weekend Hussler Retired Permanently To Edinburgh Park

Friday, 13th May 2011

Australian 2007-08 Horse-Of-The-Year & 7-time Gr1-winning 6YO gelding Weekend Hussler (Hussonet-Weekend Beauty, by Helissio) who last raced in October 2010 following a come-back attempt, has been permanently retired to Edinburgh Park in the NSW mid-north coast town of Wingham. Edinburgh Park principal Ian Smith (who bred Hong Kong champion sprinter Silent Witness) said Weekend Hussler (while restricted to light duties) will play a part in day-to-day life at Edinburgh Park & even make the odd guest appearance, noting: "The plan is to let him find his feet here, then he'll go in with the weanlings & essentially show them the way. It will keep him fresh in body & spirit to be around the young ones - hopefully they learn a few of his traits!" Overall Weekend Hussler (an $80,000 yearling consigned by Arrowfield Stud at the 2006 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) recorded 12 wins & a runner-up from 21 starts for $3,096,400 earnings.
