Estejo Wins Italy Gr1 Presidente Della Republicca

In Italy overnight, former Eliza Park Stud shuttler Johan Cruyff (Danehill-Teslemi, by Ogygian) added a Gr1 triumph when German-bred 7YO entire Estejo (Johan Cruyff-Este, by The Noble Player) scored a 1.5-lengths victory in the €243,000 (A$338,000) Gr1 Presidente Della Republicca (2000m) for 4YOs & up at the Capannelle in Rome, to improve on his runner-up in this same race in 2009. Estejo (ridden by Umberto Rispoli for trainer Ralf Rohne) defeated 6YO entire Voila Ici (Daylami-Far Hope, by Barathea) & UK-bred 5YO mare Quiza Quiza Quiza (Golden Snake-Quiz Chow, by Pelder). Last month Estejo finished runner-up in Italy's Gr3 Premio Ambrosiano (2000m) at San Siro. During 2010 he won the Listed Premio Del Piazzale (1600m) at San Siro & finished 3rd in the Gr1 Premio Roma (2000m) at Capannelle, as well as runner-up in both the Gr3 Premio Ambrosiano (2000m) at San Siro & Listed Premio Unire (2250m) at Naples. And during 2009 he finished runner-up in the Gr1 Premio Presidente Della Repubblica (2000m) at Capannelle, after winning both 2008's Gr1 Premio Roma (2000m) at Capannelle & 2007's Listed Gran Premio D'Italia (2000m) at San Siro. Overall he now boasts 9 wins & 6 placings from 28 starts.
