Monday, 16th May 2011

In the French auction ring, bloodstock agent Charlie Gordon-Watson paid top price of €260,000 (A$361,000) for a filly by former shuttler Giant's Causeway (out of Forty Niner mare Net Worth) at the 1-day ARQANA 2YO Breeze-Up Sale at Saint-Cloud. The filly (consigned from Willie Browne's Mocklershill Stables in Ireland) is a full-sister to triple Gr2-winner Naissance Royale; she was oroginally sold for US$280,000 as a weanling at the 2009 Keeneland November Sale in Kentucky, but was passed-in for 100,000 guineas (A$160,000) at UK Tattersalls last December. Gordon-Watson confirmed the filly is destined to join trainer Henry Cecil & told racingpost.com: "I really like the female family & bought her half-brother as a yearling last year. She is very athletic with a good action & breezed very well."
