Monday, 16th May 2011

Deceased Oaklands Stud stallion Iglesia (Last Tycoon-Yodells, by Marscay) added a group success when 7YO gelding Humma (Iglesia-Blue Lady, by Western Symphony) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $115,000 Gr3 Chairman's Handicap (2020m) at Doomben. Humma (ridden by Larry Cassidy for trainer Robert Heathcote) scored by a nose from 4YO gelding Viking Hero (Elvstroem-Gypsy Dollar, by Zabeel) with a further long-head top fellow 4YO gelding Count Encosta (Encosta De Lago-Sovereign Countess, by Sovereign Red). Humma (passed-in for $5,000 when consigned by Kulani Park at the 2005 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney) took his record to 10 wins (also including March's Listed Toowoomba Cup over 2100m) & 20 placings (including both 2009's Listed Recognition Stakes over 1600m at Eagle Farm & Listed Minekraft Rocket Members' Stakes over 1600m at Eagle Farm) from 61 starts for $488,730 earnings.
