Rossini Adds US Black-Type

Monday, 16th May 2011

Former NZ Glenmorgan Stud shuttler Rossini (Miswaki-Touch Of Greatness, by Hero's Honor) added a US black-type success when 5YO mare Sakakawea (Rossini-Sarouka, by Beau's Eagle) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the US$70,000 Listed Mamie Eisenhower Stakes (6 furlongs) for mares 4YO & up at Prairie Meadows in Indiana, to claim this race for the 2nd successive year. Sakakawea (ridden by Alex Birzer for trainer Ray Tracy) defeated fellow 5YO mares Samara Street (Street Cry-Miss Guts, by American Chance) & Go Milan Go (Broken Vow-Bookaparty, by Mari's Book). Sakakawea took her record to 9 wins (also including 2009's Listed Bob Bryant Stakes over 6 furlongs at Prairie Meadows) & 3 runners-up from 16 starts for US$291,405 earnings.
