1st Winner Derby-Winning Freshman Shuttler Sir Percy

In the UK overnight, Gr1 English Derby-winning 8YO freshman stallion, former unbeaten champion 2YO & NZ Rich Hill Stud shuttler Sir Percy (Mark Of Esteem-Percy's Lass, by Blakeney) recorded his 1st winner with his 1st runner when 2YO colt Percy Jackson (Sir Percy-Fly In Style, by Hernando) scored on debut at Bath for trainer Denis Coakley. Percy Jackson (a half-brother to 3 winners) was a 6,000 guineas (A$9,600) yearling at the 2010 UK Tattersalls October Sale. His sire Percy stands at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket for £6,000 (A$9,300). As a juvenile Sir Percy notched 4-wins-from-4 starts (including both the UK Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket & Gr2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood) & finished the 2005 season as highest-rated English 2YO with a Timeform rating of 122. In his 1st start as a 3YO he finished 2nd in the Gr1 English 2000 Guineas, before winning the Gr1 Derby at Epsom; he retired with 5 wins from 10 starts.
