Dam Of US Sire Global Hunter Dies At 24

Champion & multiple graded-stakes producer Griffe de Paris (Telescopico-April In Paris, by Locris) who is the dam of US Gr1-winning California sire Global Hunter (Jade Hunter-Griffe de Paris) died at Haras Carampangue in Argentina aged 24, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Griffe de Paris (whose sire Telescopico won the 1978 Argentine Quadruple Crown) retired from racing in 1992 with 8 wins from 19 starts (including the 1991 Gr1 Grande Premio Organizacao Sulamericana de Fomento Ao Puro Sangue de Carrera & 3 Gr3 victories). In addition to Global Hunter, she produced Brazilian Gr1-winner Lady de Paris, Argentine Gr1-winner Genereux, Brazilian Gr2-winner House Of Lords & Brazilian Gr3-winner King de Paris. Overall she produced 13 foals (including 8 winners, 5 graded stakes-winners & 2 Gr1-producers). Her son Global Hunter (who originally moved from Argentina to the US in 2008) retired with 8 wins (including the US Gr1 Eddie Read Handicap, Gr2 American Handicap & Listed Lure Stakes, plus Argentina's Gr2 Clasico America, Gr3 Clasico Horacio Bustillo & Listed Clasico Urbano De Iriondo) & 11 placings (including the US Gr1 Bing Crosby Handicap, Gr2 Oak Tree Mile Stakes, Gr2 Del Mar Mile, Gr2 Mervyn Leroy Handicap & Listed Thunder Road Handicap, plus Argentina's Gr1 Gran Premio Internacional Joaquin De Anchorena, Gr1 Dos Mil Guineas-Consagracion De Potrillos, Gr1 Gran Premio Polla De Potrillos & Gr2 Clasico Eduardo Casey) from 30 starts for US$611,365 earnings.
