Tuesday, 17th May 2011

In the US, former Grand Lodge Thoroughbreds shuttler (& runner-up on the US general sires list in both 2009 & 2010) Distorted Humor (Forty Niner-Danzig's Beauty, by Danzig) added a black-type success when 4YO entire Drosselmeyer (Distorted Humor-Golden Ballet, by Moscow Ballet) scored by a neck in the US$60,000 Listed One Count Stakes (10 furlongs) at Belmont Park in New York. Drosselmeyer (ridden by Jose Lezcano for trainer William Mott) defeated front-running 5YO entire Birdrun (Birdstone-Run Like Martha, by Jolie's Halo) & 5YO gelding Inherit The Gold (Gold Token-Melissa's Sunshine, by Personal Flag). Drosselmeyer (a US$600,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) took his record to 4 wins (also including 2010's Gr1 Belmont Stakes over 12 furlongs at Belmont Park) & 5 placings (including both 2010's Gr2 Dwyer Stakes over 8.5 furlongs Belmont Park & Gr2 Louisiana Derby over 9 furlongs at Fair Grounds) from 12 starts for US$843,170 earnings.
