Aust-Bred Sprinters Trackwork Before Singapore Gr1
In Singapore, star Australian-bred sprinters Sacred Kingdom, Rocket Man & Better Be The One appeared on the track at Kranji yesterday (Wednesday) morning amid final preparations for Sunday’s S$1 million (A$800,000) Gr1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m).
- New race jockey Glen Boss got his 1st feel of Ricky Yiu-trained 7YO gelding Sacred Kingdom (Encosta De Lago-Courtroom Sweetie, by Zeditave) & declared: “He’s loose & free & there is plenty of energy there. He just oozes quality. I think he’s looking for some fast work. He felt great out there this morning. He’s in great order.” Yiu arrives in Singapore to supervise his final workout this morning.
- Patrick Shaw-trained 5YO gelding Rocket Man (Viscount-Macrosa, by McGinty) was just taken for a hand walk, following Tuesday’s 1000m workout (the last 600m in 34.5secs & final 200m in 11.5 secs).
- 4YO gelding Better Be The One (More Than Ready-Common Smytzer, by Snippets) galloped over 800m on the Polytrack & trainer Michael Freedman commented: “He stretched out very nicely & that will do it. He doesn’t need a gallop on the grass, as he’s raced on that surface before. He’ll swim tomorrow & do just some light work on Friday. I would say he has come on further since the Lion City Cup (when 2nd to Rocket Man), quite similar to what he was in Dubai. His body weight is spot-on. We’ve done all we can & it’s now down to him. Hopefully we can get through to the race in one piece.”
