Montjeu Adds UK Black-Type

Thursday, 19th May 2011

In the UK overnight, dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (out of Kendor mare Dibenoise) added a black-type success when his colt Masked Marvel (Montjeu-Waldmark, by Mark Of Esteem) scored a 3-lengths victory in the £30,000 (A$47,000) Listed Cocked Hat Stakes (11 furlongs) for 3YO colts & geldings at Goodwood. Masked Marvel (ridden by William Buick for trainer John Gosden) defeated Irish-bred colt Namibian (Cape Cross-Disco Volante, by Sadler's Wells) & fellow colt Picture Editor (Dansili-Shirley Valentine, by Shirley Heights). Masked Marvel was a €260,000 (A$361,000) yearling at France’s 2009 Arqana August Sale & now has 2 wins from 4 starts.
