US Gr1-Winner Visionaire Shuttle To South Africa

Thursday, 19th May 2011

In South Africa, Summerhill Stud announced it will stand US Gr1-winning 6YO stallion Visionaire (Grand Slam-Scarlet Tango, by French Deputy) for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Visionaire (currently standing his 2nd season at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky for US$5,000) recorded 5 wins (including the Gr1 King's Bishop Stakes & Gr3 Gotham Stakes) & 3 placings (including the Gr3 Risen Star Stakes & Gr3 Northern Dancer Stakes) from 12 starts for US$465,882 earnings. Summerhill’s Mick Gross (who recently travelled to Kentucky to inspect Visionaire’s 1st foals) enthused: “He's getting them very much in his own mould & if they can run like he did, he could be a major coup for us. His sire line has already produced a champion stallion in Western Winter in South Africa & Gone West seems to be working all over the world with Elusive Quality, Mr Greeley, Zafonic, Zamindar, Speightstown & Grand Slam all the evidence we need.”
