Gr1-Winning Sire Tamayuz Withdrawn For Season

Friday, 20th May 2011

In Ireland, Shadwell's dual Gr1-winning 6YO stallion Tamayuz (Nayef-Al Ishq, by Nureyev) "will be rested for the remainder of the breeding season" reported racingpost.com. Tamayuz (who hails from the immediate family of Galileo, King's Best & Anabaa Blue) is standing his 3rd season at Derrinstown Stud in County Kildare for €15,000 (A$21,000) but Manager Stephen Collins confirmed: "He became cast in his box, injuring his left stifle & was given a month off to recover. He has healed very quickly & is back to 85 or 90% fitness, but as it is late in the season, we have taken the decision to wait until next year when he will be 100%. Sheikh Hamdan visited him recently & he is delighted with his Tamayuz yearlings & foals & he wanted to bring him back in peak condition next year." Yamayuz's 1st crop runners are due to race next year. On the track, Tamayuz defeated older rivals to win France's 2008 Gr1 Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard-Jacques le Marois (1600m) at Deauville, following earlier victories in France's 2008 Gr1 Prix Jean Prat (1600m) at Chantilly & Gr3 Prix De Fontainebleau (1600m) at Longchamp.
