Rocket Man Draws Outside For Gr1 KrisFlyer

Friday, 20th May 2011

In Singapore, Australian-bred favourite Rocket Man drew outside barrier 9 (in the field of 10) for Sunday's S$1 million (A$800,000) Gr1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m). Fellow Australian-bred contender Sacred Kingdom drew barrier 6 & Australian-bred Better Be The One drew gate 4. Their connections commented:

  • 5YO gelding Rocket Man (Viscount-Macrosa, by McGinty): Trainer Patrick Shaw said: "What can you do? He drew 9 in Dubai & still won. So, it doesn't worry me where he will jump from. Obviously an inside draw between 1 & 4 would have made it easier. There is not much speed in the race. If they want to take him on early, good luck to them."
  • 7YO gelding Sacred Kingdom (Encosta De Lago-Courtroom Sweetie, by Zeditave): Trainer Ricky Yiu said: "I'm happy to be drawn in the middle of the line-up. I'm not too concerned about the pace, the stronger the better for him. He's wearing the blinkers for the 2nd time & I'm sure he's going to travel better in them now."
  • 4YO gelding Better Be The One (More Than Ready-Common Smytzer, by Snippets): Trainer Michael Freedman said: "It's a nice enough draw. Danny (Beasley jockey) can be positive & ride him from wherever he is comfortable. There is good pace drawn outside, so he should get a good run with cover."
