1st Winner For US Freshman Sire Master Command

Deceased US multiple Gr2-winning freshman stallion Master Command (A.P.Indy-Lady Lochinvar, by Lord At War) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly Piskacha (Master Command-Trick Question, by Confide) scored over 5 furlongs at Churchill Downs in Kentucky for trainer Marco Castaneda. Piskacha was a US$2,000 yearling at the 2010 Keeneland September Sale. Her sire Master Command was euthanased last year (while standing his 3rd season at Taylor Made Stallions in Kentucky for US$12,500) following an injury sustained after rearing & losing his balance prior to a breeding session; he covered 127 mares in 2008 & 134 mares in 2009. On the track, Pennsylvania-bred Master Command (a US$650,000 yearling at the 2003 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale) recorded 8 wins (5 stakes, including the Gr2 Meadowlands Breeders' Cup Stakes over 9 furlongs, Gr2 New Orleans Handicap over 9 furlongs, Gr3 National Jockey Club Handicap over 9 furlongs, Gr3 Mineshaft Handicap over 8.5 furlongs & Gr3 William Donald Schaefer Handicap over 9 furlongs) & 4 placings (including the Gr3 Philip Iselin Handicap over 9 furlongs) from 17 stars for US$1,137,188 earnings; his 114 Beyer Speed Figure in winning the 2006 Gr2 Meadowlands Breeders' Cup Stakes was one of the highest of the year.
