Monday, 23rd May 2011

Also in South Africa overnight, European Horse-Of-The-Year & 7-time Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Rock Of Gibraltar (Danehill-Offshore Boom, by Be My Guest) added a black-type success when Australian-bred 4YO mare Alinga (Rock Of Gibraltar-Star Of Broadway, by Quest For Fame) scored a 4-lengths victory in the R115,000 (A$16,000) Listed East Coast Handicap (2000m) for fillies & mares at Clairwood. Alinga (ridden by Aldo Domeyer for trainer Mike Bass) defeated 3YO fillies Barberton Daisy (Western Winter-Buffalo Dance, by Sadler's Wells) & Australian-bred Queen's Command (Commands-Judicial Queen, by Unbridled's Song). Alinga (a $90,000 yearling at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 5 wins & 3 placings from 13 starts.
