Dancing Jess Wins NZ Rangitikei Gold Cup

In New Zealand, deceased former Berkley Stud-based Gr1 NZ 2000 Guineas-winning sire Danske (Danehill-Our Tristalight, by Sir Tristram) added a black-type success when favoured 6YO mare Dancing Jess (Danske-Bandicoot, by Zabeel) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the NZ$45,000 Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup (1600m) at Awapuni. Dancing Jess (ridden by Noel Harris for trainers Dick & Chris Bothwell) defeated 5YO gelding Spare A Fortune (Spartacus-Seek A Fortune, by Kaapstad) & 6YO gelding Go Danny (Diamond Dane-Go Polly, by Krasnopolski). Dancing Jess now has 7 wins (also including 2010's Gr3 Windsor Park Stud Taranaki Breeders Stakes over 1400m at Hawera) & 4 placings (including April's Gr2 Travis Stakes over 2000m at Te Rapa & 2009's Gr2 Cal Isuzu Stakes over 1600m at Te Rapa) from 23 starts for NZ$189,550 earnings.
