Dr Fong Adds French Black-Type

Monday, 23rd May 2011

Gr1-winning former Widden Stud shuttler Dr Fong (Kris S-Spring Flight, by Miswaki) added a French black-type success when The Aga Khan's home-bred colt Sandagiyr (Dr Fong-Sanariya, by Darshaan) scored a 2-lengths victory in the €55,000 (A$76,000) Listed Prix De Pontarme (1600m) for 3YO colts & geldings at Chantilly. Sandagiyr (ridden by Christophe-Patrice Lemaire for trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre) defeated fellow colts Cool Dude (Lemon Drop Kid-Toupie, by Intikhab) & Mister Iceman (Iceman-Parma, by Grand Lodge). Sandagiyr (a half-brother to multiple Gr1-winning & multiple Gr1-placed star French 4YO racemare Sarafina) was unraced as a 2YO; he took his record to 2 wins from 3 starts for €46,900 (A$65,000) earnings.
