Monday, 23rd May 2011

In the Irish auction ring, BBA Ireland's Michael Donohoe paid top price of €130,000 (A$181,000) for a colt by US Gr1 Florida Derby runner-up Noble Causeway (out of Elusive Quality mare Lusi Pong) at the 1-day Goresbridge Bloodstock Flat 2YO Breeze-Up Sale in County Kilkenny. The colt (consigned from Powerstown Stud) is from the immediate family of the stakes-winner Cunningham Road & was originally purchased for just US$4,000 at the Keeneland January Sale. Donohoe told racingpost.com: "He's been bought for a new Asian client who is taking an interest in Irish racing & he will be going into training with Michael Halford. He's a lovely horse who did a good breeze.
