Monday, 23rd May 2011

NZ Cambridge Stud's multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added a black-type quinella when 5YO gelding Ironstein (Zabeel-Gentle Genius, by Danehill) scored by a neck in the $100,000 Listed W.J.McKell Cup (2400m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney. Ironstein (ridden by Josh Adams for trainer Gerald Ryan) defeated 4YO gelding Sherpa Tenzing (Zabeel-Kerkira, by Danehill) & 5YO mare Skyerush (Super Jet-Bally Aura, by Bellotto). Ironstein (a $250,000 yearling consigned by Strawberry Hill Stud at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 6 wins (also including 2010's Listed Caloundra City Cup over 2400m at the Sunshine Coast) & 8 placings (including last start's Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup over 2000m on May 6 & 2010's Listed Grafton Cup over 2350m) from 25 starts for $371,900 earnings.
